Fairtrade gold engagement and wedding rings

Having a piece of jewellery made in Fairtrade Gold really does make a difference to the lives of the miners and their communities. Every milligram of gold I buy is recorded and I pay a Fairtrade Premium contribution in line with the amount of gold I use in each of your rings

Faitrade gold - what happens when you buy jewellery made from Fairtrade Gold

Last year with the impacts of COVID-19 being felt by small-scale miners across Peru and around the world the Fairtrade Premium has been vital for groups such as CECOMSAP (a collection of 10 small-scale mines based in the Apolobamba Mountains in southern Peru) to adjust and respond to the pandemic. CECOMSAP have used the Premium to construct quarantine facilities and accommodation for miners travelling to the area from neighbouring communities, and have been able to provide advanced PPE and Covid-19 testing equipment to ensure that miners can return to work safely.

Other examples of how the Fairtrade premium has been spent include building a canteen for workers, protective equipment, and investing in mining infrastructure and equipment to increase productivity. Mines also invest in environmental measures and some use the Premium to implement measures to reduce the use of chemicals used in gold recovery.
